The Junction, Cambridge, Wed 24th March 2010 (27/03/10)

Roger Green:

The band needs to play Cambridge a bit more often. That way I can continue to work on my compendium of Cherry Hinton Road guest houses. The Avimore. Top place run by Pete. I told him I'd give him a mention. Easy walking distance to the venue, although it wasn't so grand going back in the rain. Should have taken my brolley.

I got the answer "8.30 No Support" when I asked at the Box Office what time HMHB were likely to be on. Ah, an early one. Actually it was nearer 8.40 but I was in place in good time. Ta to Tony for the Nouvelle Vague CD. I also picked up some info about the 6 Music / Joy Division Oven Gloves thing. I am decidedly inept in these situations so am not sure that I will be able to contribute to the "assault on the charts" unless it comes out in a format that you can actually see and touch. Cassette, perhaps. I can just about cope with pen and paper.

Restless Legs
Lock Up Your Mountain Bikes
Fuckin' 'Ell It's Fred Titmus
Bad Losers At Yahoo Chess
(I will stand corrected, but I think Nigel then had a go at the ATV theme tune)
A Lilac Harry Quinn
San Antonio Foam Party
Irk The Purists (featuring another mighty drum solo)
Uffington Wassail ("I suffered endless Kyle")
(Then we had a bit of "Revenge" about a bitter Malcolm Nash going to Barbados to seek out Gary Sobers - a fuller version to follow?)
Bob Wilson Anchor Man
Outbreak Of Vitas Gerulaitis
Running Order Squabble Fest
Petty Sessions
The Light At The End Of The Tunnel
All I Want For Christmas Is A Dukla Prague Away Kit
Bottleneck At Capel Curig
Look Dad No Tunes (Here there was a bit of "Climie Fisher", but only a bit)
Monmore Hare's Running
24 Hour Garage People (£1.61 for the crisps, and a bit of "Breaking The Law" on the IPod. Also, the guy at the till now has a "I'm With This Idiot" t-shirt that doesn't have an arrow)
National Shite Day
The Trumpton Riots ("there's going to be a riot down in Trumpington tonight")
For What Is Chatteris?
Apache
1966 And All That
(more of the ATV)
Vatican Broadside (surely that would have been better for the 6 Radio campaign?)
Footprints
We Built This Village

And there were just two in the encore

Evening Of Swing
There was a shout for "that Kendo Nagasaki song" but they ended with...
Joy Division Oven Gloves

I hung about afterwards perhaps hoping for an official view of the JDOG thing. But it doesn't really matter and I'm not that bothered. It seemed like a good idea simply to head back down Cherry Hinton Road.
