BBC Radio Merseyside, Liverpool, Wed 19th September (20/09/07)

Chris Pattullo:

What a fantastic night!! Thanks to the tireless work of legendary local radio presenter Roger Hill, HMHB played a full set in the large foyer of the station to a guest-list only crowd of 50 or so fans on Wed 19/9/07, to help celebrate the 30th(I think) anniversary of his wonderful late Sunday night show on Radio Merseyside, with a broadcast of highlights to go out this Sundaynight/Monday morning (23/24th Sep) after midnight.

Understandably this was far more reserved than a usual Biscuit gig, with polite applause replacing the usual rabble rousing, though a few Dukla Pragues managed to sneak in to the front as ever! 2 new songs were aired (if memory serves, they were "Bad Loser at Yahoo Chess" and "He's been on the 'roids", both solid stuff as ever), but we were treated to almost a full setlist as the boys played from 7-45 to 9pm. Nigel managed to spill his water over a microphone lead ("Is that a health + safety issue?"), whilst Ken was accused of tuning up between each song "Cos 'e knows it's going out on the radio".

Setlist:

We Built This Village On A Trad. Arr. Tune
Lock Up Your Mountain Bikes
Bad Losers On Yahoo Chess
Lark Descending
Excerpt From "A Kiss At The End Of The Rainbow"
Restless Legs
Look Dad No Tunes
Joy Division Oven Gloves
Corgi Registered Friends

The Light At The End Of The Tunnel (Is The Light Of An Oncoming Train)

By my reckoning, one hell of a set, and it was a privilege to witness such a special event. Huge thanks to Roger Hill, and don't forget, if you can't tune in to Radio Merseyside this Sunday, it will be available on their "Listen again" slot on the web-site.
