The Boardwalk, Sheffield, 10th May 2006 (12/05/06)

Roger Green:

When this gig was first announced, local geezers Chuck were down as the support. So it was a downer to see that they were no longer on the bill. However the replacement was the equally splendid Calvin Party. I don't know their songs well enough to reel off any titles, but it was well up to the standard of their recorded stuff. And of course Geoff has CDs a-plenty to flog from the mobile Probe Plus shop.

Apparently the entourage had had a gruesome crossing of the Pennines - four-and-a-half hours from Birkenhead to Sheffield is not good news. But hardened professionals that HMHB are, it was no matter and they came up with another fine set which even included some Elvis.

A big hand also for whoever was spinning the discs. Plenty of Fall, a spot of X Ray Spex and even I Ludicrous.
