Leeds Cockpit, 28th July 2005 (02/08/05)

Jim Higo:

Having been thwarted by the weather in my plan to spend Thursday watching Yorkshire surge to victory at Headingley (I'm talking four day cricket), I found myself wondering around Leeds City centre alone. I spent much of the day drinking in diverse taverns and avoiding café bars, idiots and pigeons. By the time I met Jenny I was wet, slightly pissed and desperate for Nigel and the boys to brighten up a dreary day. I needn't have worried as the band were on top form, the cockpit was packed and even the heat, which might have been intolerable had I been watching anyone else, just seemed to add to the sense of occasion.

And if seeing HMHB live wasn't enough, the appearance of Achtung Bono sent me into almost uncontrollable elation.

The gig flew by as always and it's impossible to pick out highlights, but it was great to hear Bob Wilson followed by Vitas Gerulaitis, and as always Monmore Hares Running was joyous.

Great gig, great atmosphere, great night and the light show was excellent.

Incidentally the day after the gig we went to wedding, (only the night time, I didn't know them that well) Shoop-shoop song made an appearance but sadly no Tallis.

How about a gig in Hull for all your fans in East Yorkshire?
