Wulfrun Hall, Wolverhampton, 9th June 2005 (12/06/05)

David Craig:

Well, off to Wolverhampton another long drive to see the lads (mind you Exeter and Penzance are a long trek), Nice venue spoiled by having a big metal barrier and hence hard to get a set list (Security personnel refusing to hand one over because it was the Band's property - I mean come on! talk about jobsworths) fortunately Carl gave me his.

Support act an eight piece called Dile doing Ska, rock blues stuff with some good banter and a not too bad sound, managed to keep half the audience out of the bar. One of the better support acts I've seen in a few years (had their very own transvestite keyboard player, who did some pretty good skanking despite the pencil skirt, fair play)

Well the lads came on and after some setting up stuff we got the following set:

Bob Wilson anchor man
Running order squabble fest
Fred Titmus
Outbreak of Vitas Gerulaitas
If I had possession over pancake day
CAMRA man
San Antonio foam party
Shropshire Lad
Light at the end of the tunnel
Lark descending
Bad review
CORGI registered friends
Four skinny indie kids
Monmore hare's running
24 hour garage people (£1.11 and £0.84) got a blt in there and a variety of new breads - didn't mention a cobb though, a very serious omission) and played a bit of Digital by Joy Division - nice one
Them's the vagaries
For what is Chatteris
Improv workshop mimeshow gobshite (cokeheads!cokeheads!cokeheads!)
Secret gig
Tending the wrong grave for 23 years
PRS Yearbook -Vatican Broadside
Uffington wassail
Totally new track called Letters Sent
99% of gargoyles look like Bob Todd
Look Dad no tunes
Joy Division oven gloves
Everything's AOR
Trumpton Riots

There was also the "foot up in Europe" bit from went to a wedding but not on the set list

Cracking gig, good fun and usual banter (including the bloke whose sister had seen a video of Nigel's wedding 12 years ago and then someone telling Nigel that his dad had been stationed at Brize Norton - dead useful stuff you learn at these gigs)

Good to see so many of the usual faces there and saw Cap'n Al again from the Wee Howff in Paisley (check out the website www.weehowff.com and listen to the paisley tapes section)

Nigel said Hovis Presley RIP at the end - any news anyone? (Yes - he died last week - Ed.)

Roll on Exeter and Penzance...
